Two found-object-sculptures
“Any object has a precise function but it also has a story if it belonged to a person. Its origin, its material, the place where it was made and when and where it was used tells something about its owner. The objects I collected in the two boxes belonged to my parents, Franz (1914-1959) and Erika (1919-1996). The diversity of the objects that belonged to the two of them naturally demonstrates the diversity between the two people, logically linked to their need for an object’s functionality. One of my mother’s characteristics was to link the personal original side in her choice to functionality. In order to symbolically tell the story of my father, I chose to place three objects that characterised him in the drawer of cubes, building stones (of life): a watch from a World War II aircraft, a small musical instrument and a fountain pen, symbols for a phase of his short life and for passions such as music and writing”.
